The radio is in programming mode and I have updated the firmware. I cannot however upload any of the modded firmware

That is definitely fishy... It's 57.3KB and GitHub confirms it. Are you in China? Chinese users have reported being unable to download the firmware, getting garbage instead.

Opening in Notepad or any viewer like exeinfo pe could solve it quickly.
