I also would appreciate if Twidere recognized the rotation metadata contained in images properly (if feasible).
This still seems to be an issue :-/ Is there any workround in terms of pre-processing the images?
I tested on Nexus 5X with Google camera, and it works fine. What's your device and camera app?
Cyanogenmod 13 default camera on Samsung s4 mini.

Same problem here on cm 12.1 on a xperia z3 compact. Has been a problem for a while (months I'd say).
On updating to build 3.2.4 F-Droid (or possibly the previous release), images are tweeted without the proper rotation (as specified by the camera angle when the photograph is taken). Images sent via (say) email are not affected, which makes me think this is a Twidere issue. I have had no problems with image rotation before this.
