Morrowind Enhanced Textures Clothes #52

Open LexxCorp opened 5 years ago

LexxCorp commented 5 years ago

Looking for some clothing textures that were better than Better Clothes and Good Clothes and Closer to HiRez Better Clothes I stumbled into some excellent clothing textures. They are Included in DassiD's Morrowind Enhanced Textures mod but not clearly stated that they are. So.. most people using that mod end up overriding with inferior clothing textures. Should def. be used in this guide. Here's just one for example. MET on the left and Better Clothes on the right.

That seems like a definite improvement, gonna be hard saying no to this being in the guide mod list.

Seconded. Should definitely replace, or be loaded after in case it doesn't completely cover all textures that those others do. I can load it up in MO2 at some point today and see what mods it would completely invalidate.

As it turns out since BC renames clothes, I can't easily tell what it over-writes and thus tell what mods it would invalidate.

In sum total, Morrowind Enhanced Textures includes almost 4,400 textures...some of which we may very well want to use, some we may not. Asking users to disable 4200 of those textures just for the shirts would be frustrating for them. These textures aren't categorized whatsoever and no ESP loads them, they're all just thrown in there.

As well, it's not open-permission, so we can't break it up into sections and re-upload it for users.

I'm not sure how to best handle this. Thoughts?

I did recommend DassiD break it up into a separate mod since most people were overwriting his clothing textures. Best way to use this mod though would at the start of a mod build as a base then overwriting textures from there. These do cover all of Morrowinds textures so def need to be placed at the start. Of course we would just not add any additional clothing textures to ensure we don't overwrite. looking over the guide the ideal location to load up this mod would be right after all the mesh fixes and right before morrowind visual pack as the main base then overwrite with visual pack. Later in the guide users could have an option to use better clothes but why would you since these are clearly better.

@Tyler799 That's why we have the Asset Overrides function with that last mod we add in the guide. Users can download MET, extract only the clothes textures and re-package them into the overrides mod. We would just need to provide a list of textures they need to copy over.
