receding-baseline: What is the point(s), and should the sliders react to depth?

@dberlow In https://variablefonts.typenetwork.com/topics/grades/receding-baseline are the axes sliders meant to change as the depth changes? It isn't really clear to me what the points being demonstrated are, here.
