Well done team! This app is lightweight, functional, and focused. the functionality is straightforward but of great utility. Nice Work! It started to get hard to find flaws, but we do have a few improvements to suggest: dashboard link: https://dsci532-2022-mindthegap.herokuapp.com/

Persona

• Provide 3 pieces of constructive feedback that could help the app to be better suited to the scenario it was designed for

  1. As you mentioned in the proposal researchers are keen on following its trend to assess the conditions of population health, I think adding a line plot to show the trend could perfectly satisfy this need to show the changes of the metric through time.
  2. As this app is designed for demographers, sociologists, and public health organizations, I think they mostly at first want to know the most important KPIs(like just the average of metric in global or continent,…), so showing these KPIs in your app could be an advantage.
  3. In the proposal, you mentioned that users can also filter countries using an interactive control tool, and I think it is a good idea to see each country’s condition compare to its continent and world. I’m pretty sure that because of the time constraint of the project this option is not active yet.

  1. Minor problem feedback, the map is not fitted into its space, and the user should slide in order to see the entire plot.
  2. The map and box plot have the tooltip that will show the value of the metric, so I think that would be better to add this feature for the bar and bubble plot because sometimes it is hard to find the exact value or compare in the bar plots when the values are close to each other.
  3. For the last feedback, I think you can switch the bar plot and box plot places, and make the top 10 countries plot narrower to give more space to the map plot. This way I think users can access and compare the top 10 coteries with the map plot

  1. Line plot and KPIs(boxes with just label and number) are improvements for the plots

  1. They can switch the bar plot and box plot places and give more space to the map plot.

  1. We prefer showing everything on a one-screen by the nature of the context as it makes it easier for users to access everything on one page without switching between the tabs.

Backend

  1. Everything works fine except the map plot that shows part of the selected continent.

  1. because they have included the metrics as one of their filter the app is intuitive. They could add a small explanation in their control panel to make the app more intuitive.

  1. We saw that they have put a small note in their app to let user knows what it means when the plot is empty. We think that is a great idea and we would add some notes to our app.
  2. They have also used a slider for filtering their year which we think is better than dropdown we probably change this feature in our app.
