Exporting an SVG file can be annoying since it's sometimes not straightforward to include an SVG file for a figure. (I never do that in LaTeX, for instance, and always convert the SVG to PDF first.)
It would be good to export PDF directly from scadnano to save people the effort. This may also encourage them to keep the vector graphics in their figures instead of converting to awful-looking pixelated bitmaps.
