Decide what to bring over from internal documentation #4

We currently have coding convention recommendations in internal research-software-documentation docs repository in processes/programming_projects/group_practices.md. To avoid duplication we should probably move those recommendations here (if we agree they're still relevant) and point to this site in that documentation page similarly to what was done for Python recommendations.
