(5) Customizing the display of searchable metadata properties #421

Descriptive Summary

As in Cdm, the values in searchable metadata fields are by default linked within metadata display. From both a functional or an aesthetic perspective, this is not ideal. Ned has presented two options for remediating this:

  1. Do not make the descriptions searchable (but still include them in the full text search)
  2. Do not make every searchable field display as a link. Only link facet fields and/or customize whether each field should be a link.

When we discussed on 12/15/20, the team was leaning toward option #2.

Background

While QAing the Lick ingest, Sue observed that the text for the "description" field linked within the metadata records. This is true for all fields that have been set to searchable within all our collections.

This ticket needs more work. Specifically, the acceptance criteria need to be better defined. It also needs to be determined if this work is related to or best done before/after/as part of the Configuration File Overhaul #77 epic.
