@HenrikBengtsson - any advice for where to put image files? Should I make a docs/images folder for the entire site? Or should I make a folder for each menu section (eg howto/images). Or something else? Any spacing or formatting rules around images?

Closing. FWIW, we're staying away from images/screenshots, because they're hard to maintain.
