Wetlands in Utah- minor change to the text #103

Closed wetlandsDiane closed 5 months ago

wetlandsDiane commented 5 months ago

On what web page are you requesting a change?

https://geology.utah.gov/water/wetlands/wetlands-in-utah/

Describe the change(s) you would like to request.

Please update the first paragraph on the page as follows:

Though Utah is one of the driest states in the nation with a cold desert climate, wetlands are found throughout the state. Great Salt Lake has the highest concentration of wetlands found anywhere in Utah, with hundreds of thousands of acres of playas, marshes, meadows, and duck ponds found along the shores of the lake. The great diversity of wetland types found in close proximity to one another helps the Great Salt Lake ecosystem support millions of migrating and nesting birds each year. Other wetlands throughout Utah are also very important in providing critical habitat, unique recreation and aesthetic opportunities, and water sources in our arid state.

How Urgent is this?

Low

If high urgency, please explain.

No response

Additional notes

Change is minor, but the statistic we cite currently (32%) may not be accurate. It was recently used in a news article and we'd like to change the text to make it more general

@wetlandsDiane No problem! Has this new text been through any review yet? If not, I'll send it through Steph C. real quick.

It hasn't been reviewed except in that Becka and I wrote the lines about GSL together. Sending it on the Steph sounds great!
