This a good suggestion. I'm making some edits to the Publication's page, and will see if I can fit it in this revision. Unfortunately not all past publication's citations are in the database in the 'recommended' format and it's hard to draw a line in the database as to which ones do/don't follow the proper format, so hopefully adding the citation won't introduce too many problems.
Why do you feel this application needs what you're requesting?
This is not specific to the Geologic Map Portal. It would be very helpful to have the "recommended" citation for our publications accessible without having to preview the publication or download it. A couple of ideas for location include: the "download" window on the Publications page or the page a user is taken to with the DOI link (sorry, I forget what we call these).
Often, we have to include citations in GIS databases, new publications/maps, and other documents (e.g., proposals). It can be cumbersome to download or preview the publications to get the citation.

See above -- adding the citation to a location or two would be great!
What impact will this new functionality have on this application's audience?
It will save us time and may also encourage our stakeholders to use the citation we recommend.
