Thanks @wetlandsDiane, give us a week or so to look over the data, create some questions and get back to you (tomorrow we'll be heading into interviews for the GIS Manager position). There is a spreadsheet that @marthajensen (she's out today) will send to you that will hopefully help you convey some of your thoughts on what will be in each popup.
Thanks Marshall! I'm sure I've gotten that spreadsheet before from Martha, but would like to wait to get the most up-to-date copy just in case.
that all sounds great, appreciate it!

@wetlandsDiane what grant-code does this tie to?
Hi Marshall For now, you guys can bill UW19, up to the total hours for the fiscal year listed in the chart below. Once Jay gets to 100 hours, Martha gets to 20 hours and you get to 2 hours on this grant for this fiscal year, please strat billing UW20.

@wetlandsDiane - I reviewed the spreadsheet you created for popups - "G:\Shared drives\UGS_Wetlands\Projects\LandscapeData\studyResults\attributeDescription.xlsx". It is exactly what we need - Jay or I will reach out with questions once we start working on it.
The popup info sheet we were using in the past is linked below. I added your two new layers to the linked sheet so that we can keep track of everything. We will use the two spreadsheets in conjunction with one another. Please review this one:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1zDJkZQA3YGEFaqqUdxCgjwvkCI7GL2Y8FJVin9t-OPw/edit#gid=0
What is your time frame for these data layers?
Hi Martha,
I updated that popup info spreadsheet for the few fields you had questions about.
I am hoping that this layer will be added by the end of September as well.
I don't think I shared this yet, but this is my general vision for how the two layers would be viewed on the app.
If users click on the project area boundary, they will get some basic project info (years that data were collected, sample frame and target population info, link to report) and will be able to click to open a table showing strata results for all strata within that project. If users click on a feature in the strata file, they will get a pop-up with strata results and also be able to click to open a table showing the associated project info. However, when strata results are displayed, as a table or in pop-ups, I want to only have a subset of all the metrics we calculated show up. The results that would show up would be the same that show up in the pop up. It isn't really feasible to view and sort through so much data in ArcGIS. My thought is that we would create some text saying, "the full dataset can be downloaded using this link" and then people could download all of the study results data. I would also like there to be a way for a table to pop up showing all of the study results info in one place.

@wetlandsDiane I have been reviewing your new data. I have a few questions.
projectBoundary layer questions: (Attached to this issue is the attribute table that is part of the web application for this layer)
There is no field in the projectBoundary layer named "project." Therefore, I'm not sure what field to join on. See the attached CSV and let me know what field to join on.
Is the projectBoundary CSV located at M:\Shared drives\UGS_Wetlands\Projects\LandscapeData\studyResults meant to update all the fields in the attribute table? The reason I ask is because the regions differ (i.e on the web there is a region named Great Salt Lake, in the new projectBoundary there is a region named Great Salt Lake East Shore but no longer includes the Great Salt Lake Region). Which attribute fields should be updated based on the CSV you provided? Should region be updated? Is report and ProjectReport the same or are you trying to have two fields linking reports?
Also, in this issue you say " There is already a layer showing the project area boundaries under the Wetland Condition tab of the Utah Wetlands app that we can just add some new fields to". Are the following fields the new fields to include in the Wetland Assessment projects feature?
target population target_population_comparison sample_frame site_selection
Strata layer questions: (Attached to this issue is a gdb containing the new strata layer)
I have attached a GDB with the feature class you provided that has been joined to the CSV you provided. Please review the newly joined strata feature class and make sure it looks correct.
How do you want the strata layer symbolized? Please make a map for the symbolization for the strata layer. As a minimum, make the symbolization in the map show the field(s) to use to symbolize. If you want us to work on the colors/cartography that will be used on the webmap we will. For now, we need a vision of how you see it being symbolized.
Should the strata layer be grouped under the Wetland Condition grouping in the Legend? Should the name in the web application legend be "Wetland Assessment Results"?
web attribute table for projectBoundary: Wetland_assessment_projects_attributetable.csv
strata gdb: strataDataForReview.gdb.zip
Hi Martha, Responses to your questions below in bold:
There is no field in the projectBoundary layer named "project." Therefore, I'm not sure what field to join on. See the attached CSV and let me know what field to join on. Oops. I didn't exactly know what was in the attribute table for the projectBoundary layer before. Thanks for sending it along. I modified the projectData spreadsheet located here: M:\Shared drives\UGS_Wetlands\Projects\LandscapeData\studyResults to add in a field called oldRegion. Please join the region field in the feature layer with the oldRegion field in the csv and then update the region field with the region field in the csv.
The region field should be updated with the new region names in the csv. The report and ProjectReport fields are the same. Go ahead and update the ProjectReport field with the links listed in the csv- I have shorter versions of the same links that are a littler cleaner in the csv. You can keep the name as ProjectReport if that is easier. The years fields should be the same between the two files
Also, in this issue you say " There is already a layer showing the project area boundaries under the Wetland Condition tab of the Utah Wetlands app that we can just add some new fields to". Are the following fields the new fields to include in the Wetland Assessment projects feature?
yes, these fields need to be added target population target_population_comparison sample_frame
I don't actually see the field below in the csv file on the M drive. Can you send me a copy where you see this field? site_selection
I think you also need to add a "project" field to the table
in addition to the above, please update the region and ProjectReport fields. You could check the years fields, but I believe they will be the same.
Thanks
I have attached a GDB with the feature class you provided that has been joined to the CSV you provided. Please review the newly joined strata feature class and make sure it looks correct. It doesn't look correct! I think there is something wrong with the spatial data I provided to you. I will take a look at that today and try to get you a new version of the feature layer. I am sorry about that. not sure at this point what went wrong
I will work on this after I get that spatial layer fixed. Can I just make an ArcPro map and share that?
Should the strata layer be grouped under the Wetland Condition grouping in the Legend? Should the name in the web application legend by "Wetland Assessment Results"? yes and yes!
Thanks
@wetlandsDiane - answers to your questions -- I don't actually see the field below in the csv file on the M drive. Can you send me a copy where you see this field? site_selection
This field is listed in the attributeDescription.xlsx on the projectData tab (M:\Shared drives\UGS_Wetlands\Projects\LandscapeData\studyResults\attributeDescription.xlsx ). This field is not in the projectData csv.
I will work on this after I get that spatial layer fixed. Can I just make an ArcPro map and share that?
Yes, an ArcPro map would work great for sharing the symbolization with us! Thanks!
@marthajensen
Thanks Martha!
Re: the site_selection field, I will think about that field a little more and then either add data to the projectData file or else delete that field from the attribute table.
Re: the strata layer, I modified the layer slightly and the new version can be found here: M:\Shared drives\UGS_Wetlands\Projects\LandscapeData\studyResults\strataDataForReview.gdb\WetlandAssessmentStudyResults. It contains all of the data that you had joined to the layer; I just ended up clipped the features in the Weber project by the correct study area boundary.
I also proofed the data and found one error and one potential update. The montane_woodland field is long instead of double and thus values have been truncated to get rid of the decimal. This field will need to be modifed and then the values updated to allow the decimals.
As for the update, I think it might be better to display all values in the "double" fields with one number after the decimal so that, for example, 5 would be 5.0. With the exception of values of 0. This would be consistent in how I am told to display numbers in tables and that kind of thing. Is that something you could easily update?
I made a map showing how to display the strata data; you can see it here: M:\Shared drives\UGS_Wetlands\Projects\LandscapeData\studyResults\studyResults\studyResults..aprx. Clearly I am great at naming arcpro projects! That is a lot of study results in a row there. :) I am happy for input from you guys on the colors/cartography.
I think that is everything. I will circle back to the site_selection field in the projects table on Wednesday (i'm off tomorrow).
Thanks Diane
@marthajensen
I added a site_selection field to the projectData csv. I have not added that field to the feature layer in the geodatabase, though.
Let me know if that all makes sense and if there are any other questions or things I need to clarify.
Thanks!
@jjhi11 A new Wetland Condition service is published at: https://webmaps.geology.utah.gov/arcgis/rest/services/Wetlands/Wetland_Condition/MapServer
Wetland assessment projects For this project, 5 fields were added to the 'Wetland assessment projects' layer (https://webmaps.geology.utah.gov/arcgis/rest/services/Wetlands/Test_Wetland_Condition/MapServer/0) The five new fields are:
project target population target_population_comparison sample_frame site_selection
Wetland assessment study results An entirely new layer was also published in the wetland condition service called 'Wetland Assessment Study Results' (https://webmaps.geology.utah.gov/arcgis/rest/services/Wetlands/Test_Wetland_Condition/MapServer/2) The "Wetland Assessment Study Results' was symbolized by Diane. She said that if the colors don't work, we can change them. The layer is symbolized on the project field.
All the fields and popup info are described in the following two sheets
Pop up info main sheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1zDJkZQA3YGEFaqqUdxCgjwvkCI7GL2Y8FJVin9t-OPw/edit#gid=0

Diane's vision for the popups (this text is copied directly from a comment from Diane within this issue):
"I don't think I shared this yet, but this is my general vision for how the two layers would be viewed on the app.

@jjhi11
Sounds like we got the data to the next step! I can't remember if I ever discussed with you my vision for this data.

I would also like there to be a way for a table to pop up showing all of the study results info in one place, but I'm not exactly sure how that would work.
Happy to discuss further if you'd like.
@wetlandsDiane I have the start of this working but would like to discuss exactly what you want beyond a table showing strata for specific projects
Sounds good. Do you want to set up a time early next week to discuss?
Thanks

Hi Jay,
In case this wasn't clear from my email, can you bill UW19 to any additional time you spend working on this project? Also, do you have an estimate for when you will be ready to have all these changes undergo review?
Thanks
Sure. I'm hoping to have it ready early Jan
@jjhill
The Wetland Assessment Projects layer has been updated, based on the comments in https://docs.google.com/document/d/16unO4maZKjHUkv6g87Q3yk-emSNotj4jOMdxkfQHd4M/edit
The wetland condition service that contains the Wetland Assessment Projects layer is located at: https://webmaps.geology.utah.gov/arcgis/rest/services/Wetlands/Wetland_Condition/MapServer
Let me know if you see any issues with the layer
@jjhi11 @marthajensen @marshallrobinson
I have the study results data ready to add to the Wetlands application. There are two layers associated with this project- one showing the project area boundaries and the second showing the results by strata. There is already a layer showing the project area boundaries under the Wetland Condition tab of the Utah Wetlands app that we can just add some new fields to.
Spatial data is located here: M:\Shared drives\UGS_Wetlands\Projects\LandscapeData\studyResults\studyResults.gdb. The geodatabase has two files. First, the projectBoundaries layer just has one feature in it. This should be appended to the existing project area boundaries file that I mentioned above. There is going to be overlap between this project boundary and previous projects. Looks like the layer is already transparent so that should help somewhat with the display; I am open to other suggestions to improve display
The second feature is the studyAreaStrata file; this feature is going to contain all of the study area results.
I kept the data separate from the feature layers b/c of all the issues with field length and field type that I encountered with the landscape data. There are two csv files in this folder: M:\Shared drives\UGS_Wetlands\Projects\LandscapeData\studyResults that contain the final fields that should be in each layer. The projectData csv has information that should be associated with the projectBoundaries file. I would think they should join based on the Project field, though I am not entirely sure whether that field exists in the project boundary file online. I'll need Martha to let me know about that.
The straraData csv will need to be joined to the studyAreaStrata feature layer by both the project and stratum_name.
There is an excel spreadsheet in the same folder called attributeDescription. This spreadsheet has a tab for each feature layer with a list of all fields, data types, field lengths, etc. I also listed precision and scale for numeric fields, though I don't know if that is necessary. And as far as lengths go, I just looked at the lenght of the data currently in the field and typically rounded to some value. This spreadsheet also has info about which fields will show up in popups and the name of the field in the popups.
I have a basic vision for how all this data will work together and be displayed, but I think there might be a form or spreadsheet I am supposed to use to convey this info? Let me know how to proceed and what else you need for me. Also happy to set up a short meeting to discuss.
