Where is the text you are suggesting changes for?

Database Contents panel

What does the current text say?

@wetlandsDiane, do you have some reviewed text (by Steph. C.) about the new 'Wetland Assessment Study Results' and 'Landscape Data' layers to add to the Database Contents panel? If so, please copy/paste it here. Thanks!

What do you propose the new text says?

see Diane

Who has reviewed your proposed text so far?

see Diane

wetlandsDiane commented 2 years ago

@marshallrobinson @marthajensen

I sent some text to Stephanie to review and will paste it in once the review is done.

One question about all this- I want users to be able to download a data package that contains all of the landscape and study results data in a geodatabase along with the explanations that i wrote up about these data. can we include a link to all that data in the explanation? Is this a separate request I need to make through Martha?

marshallrobinson commented 2 years ago

Thanks for getting text in to Stephanie.

Bringing up your question about the data download in this issue is fine by me. Will the data package be coming from you or would you like Martha to use something we already have on hand? Yes, including a link in the explanation sounds good to me.

I would like the data package to come from Martha. I have attached the associated explanation material below, as well as the document review files. I.e., both of the data explanation docs have gone through the full review process.

Landscape Data Explanation 201909.pdf Survey Results Explanation 201909.pdf study results Review_Routing_Sheet (1).pdf landscape data Review_Routing_Sheet (1).pdf

@wetlandsDiane

Should the zipped gdb contain these 7 feature classes?

The 5 landscape layers (ecoregion, huc 8, huc 12, huc 8 by ecoregion, huc 12 by ecoregion) The wetland condition wetland assessment projects layer The wetland condition wetland assessment study results layer

wetlandsDiane commented 2 years ago

That is correct. And then that should all be zipped into a folder with those two explanatory documents.

@jjhi11 there is a zipped geodatabase for the data download, mentioned in this issue, at (I shortened the name)

\geology.utah.gov\www\html\docs\zip\Wetlands_Landscape_StudyResults.zip

Thanks for working on the data download feature @wetlandsDiane and @marthajensen. Diane, adding the 2nd request about the data downloads has confused me a little. Is there separate text coming that will get put into the Database Content panel?

wetlandsDiane commented 2 years ago

The text below has been reviewed and approved by Stephanie. We do need to add a hyperlink to the data that martha put together in both locations where it says "download."

New section added between Hydric Soil Classes and Wetland Condition in the Database Contents panel

LANDSCAPE DATA The landscape dataset summarizes information relevant to Utah’s wetlands at five spatial scales. These data allow us to understand where and what kinds of wetlands are in Utah, who owns those wetlands, how ownership patterns differ from overall land ownership patterns, and locations that have potentially restorable wetlands. These data also summarize trends in groundwater and surface water resources across the state. The data and a more detailed description of how they were developed are available via download.

New or modified subsections under the Wetland Condition section in the Database Contents. The following two sections should be placed above the Wetland Stressors subsection in the Wetland Condition section. Note that the Wetland assessment results subsection is new text and the wetland assessment project subsection text will replace existing text.

Wetland assessment projects

The UGS has conducted field studies to evaluate the condition and potential function of Utah’s wetlands using the Utah Rapid Assessment Procedure. These projects provide baseline information on the types of wetlands, abundance and severity of common stressors, and rare and common wetland plants in each project area. The wetland assessments project layer shows the boundaries where assessment projects have taken place, years when field data were collected, a link to the associated reports when available, and information about project study design.

Wetland assessment results The wetland assessment results dataset summarizes major findings from UGS wetland surveys. Results are organized by strata, which were based on ecoregions or watersheds, depending on the project. Only results from projects where sites were selected and surveyed using a random design are included in this dataset. The data and a more detailed methodology are available via download.

@marthajensen i dont have access to that folder. could you please put it in apps/wetlands for me?

marthajensen commented 2 years ago

@jjhi11

The downloadable database has been moved to \geology.utah.gov\www\html\apps\wetlands\appfiles\Wetlands_Landscape_StudyResults.zip

jjhi11 commented 2 years ago

@marshallrobinson should be good now

wetlandsDiane commented 1 year ago

I'm not sure what you mean about the 2nd request, Marshall?
