For some reason, the integration test with the ping command fails on a single-core Xubuntu 14.04 VM on VirtualBox.

This is probably also what causes AppVeyor to fail?

Commit c20837326be402664fcbd15dfd019bc4d5ab8799 kind of fixes this, but in a dirty way.
