Side Bar #38

Open QuestofIranon opened 9 years ago

I found this side bar that integrates with google maps and thought it might be better than the current panel.

sidebar v2

I'll look into it some more, just wanted to put it out there.

I have started implementing this in my fork; check it out: Parcel Assessment Tool (my fork)

I posted something similar to this on slack, but I'll post it here too:

I'm looking for ideas on how to reformat the data to follow the new paradigm this bar presents.

I can add new buttons to the menu, so I was thinking the buttons could lead to different tools ie. the building envelope is one tool, the info viewer is another tool, etc.

This might require a reversion to the old single parcel at a time method for showing info as the old tab system doesn't look/work as well.

I also want to add a help pane to the panel that can include info on zoning definitions and such to help the user.

Josh. I understand the question but don't see where the Folder works now. That is, i can select a site and it pops up with Add to Folder but there is 2015-09-20_14-03-33 no folder view.

HI Jim, what browser are you using? It works for me on firefox and chrome on Windows 10 and Ubuntu.

QuestofIranon commented 9 years ago

This is how it should look.

This transition is still a WIP, I haven't made it automatically open when a building is added yet because it was causing issues. I'm looking into what's causing the issue, I should have it at least back to its original functionality soon.

Josh. I'm using Firefox 38.2 on Windows 8.1. Jim

QuestofIranon commented 9 years ago

I tested it in Firefox 38.2 LTS and it is working as expected.

Josh. I just checked it and it works great. You have enough of the shell that some input from users would be great. Let's get Ben and Jonathan in on the review and refinement. We probably need to bring them up to speed on GitHub and Slack (me too). There are some navigation issues that we need to document for you as well as some definitions. For example, the Land Use should return a description or short name vs. number which is what you have also suggested. The back button once you get to taxable value also needs some work but that's what we need to review to give you feedback. Great job.

I added some extra sections to the panels, they aren't filled in yet though.

On a side, I'm using icons from fontawesome for the buttons. If you see something you think would fit better for any of the sections, let me know. I can also use glyph-icons from bootstrap but I think it's just a subset of those available from font awesome anyway.

I also changed the orange in the bar to the blue I was using in the old panel. I'm open to other colors though.
