I would like to be able to do this. I think it would be good experience and exposure. I would like to run our presentation by my boss and my department head, as they are the ones that would be affected by our decisions. I'll contact them in the morning, and let you know what they say. They're both very supportive of this, so I hope this will be little more than cursory.
As we get closer to this, I would like to consider creating a poster. If there are particular graphics like @smindinvern - heat map, that we would like to use, please keep them in mind.
Hey guys, sorry I kind of fell off the map for a few days--senior project hit the fan.
@brownworth: are you looking to present the poster e.g. with all of the senior projects, or just for placement somewhere around the campus?
I don't know where/how we will be presenting on 11/27. Sometimes, sessions like this are held in rooms such that there are people with posters/displays, and they have to present information to attendees as they walk around.
@brownworth @smindinvern @mtellis2 As a reminder in case you deleted the email (I did), the board presentation is in the Nursing Building, Room 330. The food is available at 12:30, and the presentations begin at 1. Also, I have a question. Do we want to merge everything we have into master (aside from the 'final' branch), or leave all our personal branches in place?
I just went through and made some final edits and animation changes.
As for branches, I can go either way. I'd defer to Dr. Mohanty here.
Thanks! Looks good to me, and I closed whatever comments we'd already discussed or aren't changing.
Does anyone object to making the repository public at this point? I feel like we should have that in place before we present in a few hours, so if people want to look at our data they can.
Prof. Mohanty suggested in class yesterday (Nov. 6) that we could present our project to a group of professionals on Nov. 27. It's the same day as the senior project presentations and some of those people will be looking at both sets of projects, and would be around 11am. If we participate, two of us would give about a 20 minute presentation. It's good exposure, and Prof. Mohanty said he could also make sure that (for example) the dean of libraries Dr. Martin Halbert was there, which would be good since our project particularly pertains to that and would ensure that it is seen.
It's right before exams, so we should have the project 90% completed by then. I'm down for it, what do you guys think? If we're going forward with it I'll need to email him by tomorrow morning.
