Importance of having Re independent measurement in scaled model testing

Importance of compensating the measurement results with tare measurements (incl. parasitic drag from support struts)

Cp max increases and shifts to the left (in the TSR Vs. Cp curve) with Re – similar to wind turbines

Though we did not achieve true Re-independence, we did push through the transitional regime where there is at least weak "linear" Re-dependence. This represents a major threshold in the physics beyond which numerical models should be validated.

Another point could be that we saw similar Re as for a high solidity turbine, which does point towards the obvious conclusion that this is driven by blade boundary layer turbulence.
