Objective: Make the carriage motion as smooth as possible, i.e. critically damped, for typical tow scenarios.
Requirements/deliverables
An IPython notebook that includes a mathematical model and solution algorithm for the tow system motion (in 1D), with input variables:
Mass of towed gear
Drag coefficient (allow for unsteadiness, i.e. input as a time series if necessary)
S700 drive gains and filter parameters
Desired motion profile
Validation of the numerical model with actual measurements of carriage dynamics.
A set of S700 drive parameters that will produce optimal motion for some sample cases, i.e. minimize mean square error from the input profile. This will need to be validated with measurements as well.
