Nextclade v3 will be released on Tuesday, January 16!
Dear friends, after almost a year of work Nextstrain team is happy to announce that we have set the release date of the new major version of Nextclade 3.0.0 to Tuesday, January 16!
Nextclade version 3 includes new features and breaking changes, including:
New alignment algorithm.
Better handling of slippage, splicing and of circular genomes.
New tree builder.
Nextalign CLI is removed. Nextclade CLI can now do the same and more.
New, simplified dataset format. It's now easier to create datasets - you can start small, with only a reference sequence and gradually add more features later. We encourage the community to contribute datasets for the new pathogens and strains!
Automatic dataset suggestion in Nextclade Web.
And more. Full changelog is in the "Unreleased" section [here](https://github.com/nextstrain/nextclade/blob/master/CHANGELOG.md). It will be shown as "3.0.0" after the release.
If you are using Nextclade, in order to no get caught by surprise on January 16, we encourage you to either:
Adjust your projects for the changes in Nextclade v3 (read "migration guide" section in the [documentation](http://docs.nextstrain.org/projects/nextclade/en/latest))
Actively avoid the upgrade in order to temporarily stay on Nextclade v2
