QOS #98

Can we give all portal submitted jobs elevated QOS, ie they have the ability to use all of the microvolution licenses at once and higher priority for their jobs, when they submit jobs via the portal. but if they submit jobs via command line, they only get their regular QOS level as determined by their institutes QOS level, ie: they paid for some of Wiener.

hoangnguyen177 commented 2 years ago

I don't think it is possible. With the current way the portal works, the portal issues SSH commands to Wiener, which from SLURM point of view, no different from commands issued by command lines.

DrSpringy commented 2 years ago

is there anything tricky we could do with groups on slurm? I like nicks idea of slurm only running jobs that include IPP in the title at a certain QOS level etc

DrSpringy commented 8 months ago

If it's not possible for the IPP to elevate the QOS of job, then we need to show each user their QOS level and what resources they can access per job etc. And have a link to how they can request more resources easily

Link to other issue on quota displays #81 Any capability to allow more quota for short term jobs? Have temporary scratch? DG: /tmp folder can be used for life of job Investigate if portal can use /tmp instead of user scratch
