Use selector to get map URL params and number conversions; adjust time series plot and table sizes based on display state

I pushed up some changes, we can merge it in if there's nothing else you want to add

Cool, the changes make sense. I was trying to use a centralized spot to convert the strings to numbers but looks like that had it's own downsides.

Merged develop in and dealt with the conflicts, and made a couple more tweaks to the time series sizing. Take a look and if it seems good I can merge this.
