USAID Mission Locations (Directory) #28

Open SeanMaday opened 6 years ago

SeanMaday commented 6 years ago

Is the USAID mission directory available as structured data: https://www.usaid.gov/mission-directory

I would love to have this information as JSON or even in a geo file format (KML, GeoJSON, Shapefile).

At this time, the data you seek is not immediately available in a machine readable format. This request reinforces a need we have already recognized from similar requests to make this type of information available in a machine readable format. We are factoring these requests into our broader information technology plan for 2018 and beyond. @SeanMaday

Considering the age of this request, and the reply, I'd love to know if this is now available.

Hi: I got a notification that this was completed, but it doesn't appear to be the case. The Mission Directory page still does not contain any structured data: simply links to the Mission page. If there is no intention of providing this information, that would be nice to know, rather than marking it as "complete" when it is still an open request.

Thanks, Laura. I appreciate that. Can you tell me if this is something that is planned? People have been asking for this kind of basic geographic info since 2012 when we were establishing the GeoCenter. Unfortunately, a lot of that early work seems to be backsliding and I just noticed that AID's interactive map page is down (presumably no longer maintained) It would be great to know if this is particular request and others like it are in an icebox or on a roadmap for delivery. Thanks again for the prompt follow-up.
