How do the UC and ED models handle overgeneration, and the renewable units whose supply must be bought by CAISO (if indeed, that is the case)?

Harsha: We can distinguish 4 types of patterns. (1) We use whatever supply is provided by the renewables. (2) We commit to using whatever supply is provided by the renewables, then bail-out in real-time. (3) The renewables have unused capacities which are not bought by CAISO. (4) CAISO committed to buying X much energy from the renewable generators, but they failed to supply this amount.

Both overgeneration and must-use units has been incorporated in UC & ED models.
