remove mapdata dependency #60

This package is a pain for windows and it probably makes sense to pull map tiles instead of vector data for the thumbnail generation.

@mhines-usgs I was looking into this quickly, with the idea of using a baselayer instead of building an image w/ the mapdata vector data. Do you know how to get an image (png) back from the WMS with a given BBOx?

something like this?
