I got a request this week that asked "Did Bill Richardson ever have any of his GLRI projects entered?", and it was really hard answer.
Since it's unlikely that Bill himself entered his project (he probably would have had someone else do it, likely a student who's since moved on), I can't search by project manager. I was able to use the Services Documentation to find that he's listed as a contact, but I don't know how to take that Contact ID and find out which projects it's associated with.
The other issue is that since the first and last name of the contact (and in Bill's case, middle initial) is added as a single field, finding the correct name isn't straightforward. I did it by using the Services Documentation to return ALL contacts, and then just searched the page for "Richardson". That said, there were two "William B. Richardson"s and one "Vi Richardson".
If we can figure out a way to make this search work, it might be useful to incorporate into the mapper as a search option, too, but for now it'd be most useful the DMS.
