So far we have been using Slack sign up as the way for people to subscribe, that adds them to an email list etc.... That does presume people are using Slack, which may not be the case for everyone we want to reach.
Where does this discussion sit? If we can ingest the Slack sub list into mailchimp, then we could leverage newsletter functionality and it will be awhile before we hit 2000 subs.
The website serves a blog feed: https://vsoch.github.io/usrse.github.io/feed.xml so anyone that copy pastes the address into a standard feed syndication service (e.g., Feedly) can indeed subscribe. We also tend to tweet announcements which (imho) more people will follow/hear than traditional RSS. I definitely still use RSS but I think it's not everyone's cup of tea. @cmaimone and @sandragesing are also rocking the newsletter, and I suspect they already have a strategy for sending out these emails? I think having a subscription on the website is one of the standard ways to get the audience engaged.
