A major goal for Macrostrat v2 is web-based, approachable editing of stratigraphic columns. We've constructed several prototype applications for column editing over the years.
Column builder: This application inherits its basic structure from Macrostrat v1's "dacite" web editor, written in PHP. It is designed to edit columns in a mostly tabular form
Stratigram is a prototype application for visual editing of columns, geared towards capturing measured sections from publications
Naukluft column editor: this app is used to bring together measured sections into a sequence-stratigraphic model
These applications have different editing approaches, and we hope to eventually bring their strengths into Macrostrat's column editing system. This will start with multiple parallel efforts:
