Fixed - Can't uninstall Budgie Extras #393

After a fresh install of Ubuntu Budgie 20.04.2 I am not able to remove any of the auto-installed Budgie Extras. Clicking on a "Remove" button does nothing at all. I can't install any of those not automatically installed, either. Is there an alternate way to remove them than the Budgie Desktop Extras app from the menu?

Thanks in advance!

On a fresh install, do run a full system update. It is likely the package manager needs refreshing that then allows budgie welcome and the remove/install buttons to work.

I am unfamiliar with what a "full system update" is and how to accomplish that task. If you are referring to a "sudo apt update; apt upgrade" combination, I've already tried that. No joy.

Thank you for responding.

Please can I see the terminal output of the following

sudo apt update && sudo apt full-upgrade
snap refresh
budgie-welcome

Choose budgie-extras from the first blue button. Hit a remove button, copy and paste the output you see on the terminal.

Okay, that combination of terminal commands fixed the problem. I'm curious if it really takes both the apt commands and snap refresh (I'm aware the budgie-welcome is a snap). I won't be re-installing Budgie for a couple of weeks but if this problem reoccurs, I'll try to try and discover if it requires both.

Thank you very much for the feedback!

Okay, an update. After installing Ubuntu Budgie 20.04 again, the 2 apt commands did nothing to help the situation. But after the "snap refresh" I could then install/remove Budgie Extras.

that's fine. The snap would have autoupdated anyway after a few hours.
