Applications Menu (AppMenu) increase resident memory to some GB #428

First I opened an issue at budgie-panel ( Budgie Desktop issue#150 ) but after some tests the memory leak is the AppMenu.

I use Arch Linux with Budgie Desktop 10.6.1-1 and Bugdie-Extras 1.4.0-1.
Here 2 gists from output pmap budgie-panel right after start
https://gist.github.com/fugo/86cc2ad3becc3fb8fd94a09826ae97d3
and a while running without use
https://gist.github.com/fugo/7930c094f721f224bc7cb7325f66739a
If I open some apps (ex. telegram, evo, …) the memory goes up to 3GB in very short time. No matter if I close them completely.

Please run ubuntu budgie 22.10 daily iso from a USB stick (live session) and see if you can reproduce the issue.

We need to find out if this is reproducible elsewhere.

I am on Solus Budgie (Budgie Desktop 10.6.3) and I have the same problem. When I add a Workspace Switcher to a panel, immediately budgie-panel starts leaking memory. If I put my cursor on any of the icons in the Workspace Switcher, the icon would flash repeatedly.

fossfreedom commented 2 years ago

umm - Solus if I'm not mistaken doesn't have AppMenu in their repo - so if you are referring just about the workspace switcher this should be an issue for the buddies budgie-desktop repo.

Ah okay, sorry for the mistake!
