Floating Tree Supports #14702

Reproduction steps

In an attempt to get rid of the floating tree supports...

  1. Changed Support Overhang Angle
  2. Added custom supports
  3. Changed Support Distance Priority to from "X/Y overrides Z" to "Z overrides X/Y" Screen Shot 2023-02-26 at 6 55 08 PM

Actual results

Nothing, and that's the problem. I have NEVER experienced these floating tree supports before. Not until I downloaded version 5.2.2.

Expected results

The problem should've been resolved.

Thanks for the report. This has come up before and it turned out to be a setting issue. Have you tried increasing the "Tree Branch Diameter Angle"? Using Support Infill can also mitigate this problem as the new branches have something to grow from. I'll leave the bug label on this and someone from the Cura team will take a look.

I just tried the "Tree Branch Diameter Angle" settings and no result (other than a setting of 10.0° puts the tree tops on twigs). I don't think this is a setting issue, I've never experienced this before until I downloaded this version of Cura. Though, interestingly enough, after it started happening and I tried it out on an older version, I was getting the same problem, but it was less ugly and, at times, more manageable. CuraTreeHelp
