More info... I just started 3d printing a month ago. (edited).. I went back and re-traced my steps, and I initially installed version 5.5.0, and I had no problems with supports. I actually only used tree supports. I just recently had installed 5.6.0, and apparently that's when the issue started with tree supports. I just uninstalled 5.6, and re-ran the installer for 5.5, and re-tried the file, and tree supports worked fine.

There is an alpha that contains fixes for tree support crashes here: https://github.com/Ultimaker/Cura/discussions/18080
