First things first, if you're having model slicing issues you should always try the latest version of Cura - 5.8 released fairly recently, and even 5.7 incorporated fixes to several of the more common slicing issues. To that end I can slice this model as imported under 5.8 without issued; though I'm not exactly sure you wanted a 1.4mm wide blob.
That said, you're not exactly describing the issue you're experiencing. Since you've included an STL, rather than a project file, I also can't even begin to guess at what issue you're experiencing. So if updating to a newer version does not fix the issue it would be advisable to at least include a project file that replicates the issue, if not also a better description of what is (or isn't) happening.
