I've experienced some problems with my fans. On my Ultimaker 2, after a few hours of working, the lateral extruders fan stopped turning.
After some investigations, I figured out that the connectors of the fan were broken.
The technical problem is that when you soldered these connectors, the plastic melt making it too weak to handle a good link, especially for a moving part.
I think you should change these connectors or find a better way to assemble your cables.
