landscape mode hides all context for typing #209

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
When I go into landscape mode for typing, I lose all view of the IM
conversation I'm typing into, the web page with forms I'm typing into, the
note I'm typing into, so on and so forth. The official Android keyboard
input method does this too though. Is there any possibility of a way around
this with anysoftkeyboard? Maybe tricking apps into operating in portait
mode and centering them horizontally while the keyboard is in landscape?

I'd like it to take whatever application window is there and slide it up and
put the keyboard under it, just like in portrait.

Can you provide screenshots for the problems?
And how it is with the original keyboard

I see. It can be a good option in the Tweaks menu.
I'll also try to enable it automatically when screen dimensions are larger than
the
regular android.

Try the latest:

You'll need to un-check the "Use full screen input" flag in the Tweaks menu.

That is fantastic. Is there any way to hide the system status bar while ASK is
in
layout?

Also, if you're not going to ship my mobile colemak as 'colemak' in ASK, could
you
ship it colemak mobile/custom/II/whatever, it would make my life significantly
easier.

And actually, if it could hide standard application title bars or whatever
those are
too, that'd be fantastic. My main use cases here are instant messaging and
typing up
notes in class. Right now I can see one line of the chat history or three
lines of
notes, but with both of those other things hidden, I'd be able to see three and
five,
respectively.

I can not hide the title bar. It is out of ASK control.

How about the size of the keyboard in landscape? Is it big enough? Or too big?

Ah.. I think the size of the keys is fine.

I've added a new feature for the Tweak menu.
You can now resize the keys in landscape mode!
e.g., I've tweaked the keyboard to be 0.8 in height in landscape mode. This
will make
ASK hide less of the application, and make the whole landscape experience much
better.

What do you think about this feature? I like it a lot.

Me and Hugo both think .85 is great. 9 is ok.. 8 is too small.. He says when
he
switches between keyboards it resizes on his phone, but I don't have that
problem.

I really like the space it saves, I can see three full lines of text in Meebo..
