I'm not sure which version you use (testers?). Anyhow, some work has been done
on the
shift behavior:
long-press does not have any effect anymore.
First press will turn shift on, second press will lit the caps-lock, and third
will
release.
Install the latest "testers" version and try it.

Sorry for the double post. I made the bug report from my handeld, and had an
error
when submitting (something about post headers).
I downloaded Anysoftkeyboard today, version 20091122-skipper (release 13).
Thanks for your fast answer.

Issue 239 has been merged into this issue.
Original comment by menn...@gmail.com

I've installed 20100109_testers.apk, and cannot turn on Caps Lock at all.
Pressing
Shift toggles between two phases: lowercase and
uppercase-for-the-next-single-letter.
As I understand, it should switch among three states.

I can't reproduce this behavior.
First press gives me shift state (the icon changes to something like a glow)
Second press gives me caps lock (the little dot on the top left lit up)
Third press brings me back to unshifted state (no glow, and no dot on the
top-left).

I can't reproduce.
a reminder, if you want caps-lock, then press
shift twice. Once to move to shift (the icon glows),
and another press for caps lock (the top left dot
will lit up).

Thanks for the reminder, but the problem is there ;-)
I've attached an ./adb logcat | grep AnySoftKeyboard
where i've pressed shift 3 times, hope this help.
Thanks.

@tof.legras, The log you provided is quite weird....
It seems that the keyboard gets re-created all the time (like the screen
resolution
changes, but it doesn't..), and I can't reproduce it.
Does this happen in other layouts? Like the QWERTY or BEPO or DVORAK?
Which layouts are active on your device? Please also write here you entire
settings.

I can confirm the problem of tof.legras with the latest market version
(20100119) in
a fresh install. It is impossible to switch caps lock on.

Ok, this one works fine (I also reboot the phone to be sure). I sent it to my
friend and i am waiting for
his feedback.
What was the trouble ?

I wasn't playing with the gui thread correctly.
Haven't noticed that on my phone.

humm sorry, doesn't work for me. I've the same device as herve.rilos
but with a different firmware ( 1.008_EMEA_GEN1 ). This is strange.
To be sure, i've removed previous version of anysoftkeyboard and installed
version 20100120. Then without modify any parameters ( in qwerty, ... )
i've tried to switch caps lock with no luck.

Ok. I've done some testing, and I can give some clues.
I've installed Spare Parts some days ago, and removed it after playing a little
bit
with it. I saw today some differences in the display of some apps. They were
not in
full screen on my device, but they were on my friend's one. So, I reinstalled
Spare
Parts, checked the Compatibility Mode option, rebooted my phone and succeeded in
launching NemoPlayer in fullscreen. But, no caps lock!
I unchecked the Compatibility Mode, re-started, then no fullscreen for
NemoPlayer,
but caps lock could switch on.
I hope this helps.

That did the trick !
Thanks herve.rilos, i've also Spare parts installed, and compatibility mode is
enabled by default.
Unchecked it and caps lock works. Good catch :-)
