Dvorak layout has redundant punctuation #287

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
As per summary - screen space is wasted on the Dvorak layout due to the
presence of the extra comma and period buttons around the space bar, when
they already exist in their Dvorak-native location.

The fix I suggest (which would also fix the excessively small backspace
key) is simple: Remove the comma and period from around the space bar, move
the semi-colon to the left of the space bar (where comma currently is) and
in the gap now left between space and enter, move backspace there. The row
above could then size to fit the new available width.

This change would make the Dvorak onscreen layout markedly better.

I think that the bottom row should look the same for all layouts.
So maybe just removing the duplicates from the native DVORAK location?

Possible fix, but then the top line would be really widely spaced and the
bottom row
still incredibly squashed

I would rather have right & left cursor keys than the extra punctuation and/or
the Smiley key. If I need to put in a smiley (rarely) I know how to do it.:-)

Would rather you did not remove the 'extra' punctuation from the top row.
If, for nothing else, aesthetic reasons.

And definitely don't re-center the remaining top row keys, if you do!
The "P" should remain above "U" key, Y over I, etc.
