Move cursor up/down doesn't work as expected

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Set swipe up and down respectively to move cursor up and move cursor down
2. Go into your favorite text editor and swipe up or down
3.

Expected output:
The cursor goes up or down.

What I see instead:
A weird square on the screen like a non-printable character for each swipe.

Version of the product:
20100227-x-dvtel-testers (release 16)

Operating system:
Android 1.6 on Acer Liquid
