Well, you can't scrap a part that has child parts (ie, has stuff attached to it), so that helps.
But yeah, I agree here, I just accidentially scrapped part of my inflatable logistics module storage tower while trying to deploy it. XD
These are my thoughts re: Scrap confirmation
The name of the part is in the title of the dropdown menu. Combined with part highlighting the scrap system is pretty good already. I see a confirmation box as slowing things down, especially if you are deleting several "layers" of parts.
With the new ability to scrap parts (which is amazing), it seems that a crucial missing component is for a confirmation box to appear as to ensure accidental scrapping doesnt happen. Right now it seems like it is far too easy to be on an EVA and try to use Kerbal attachement to grab a part and accidentally scrap it, or even worse, accidentally scrap the main piece of the ship that the part is on.
