Many, including myself, have arduinos running WLED already set up and it would be nice if this program can control these as well, without needing to put an arduino inside of a PC case.

WLED already has an HTTP request API for simple control (like selecting between presets), and it also supports the E1.31 (sACN) realtime light protocol.

Just an idea

This would also mean no messing around with serial commands

At a glance that looks nice and easy to implement: I will look into that further once I've got something that actually works.
