The Unidata Local Data Manager (LDM) system includes network client and server programs designed for event-driven data distribution, and is the fundamental component of the Unidata Internet Data Distribution (IDD) system.
yum(1), apt-get(1), and whatever BSD and Solaris use.
Can have the main LDM package depend on an LDM configuration package without a version in order to obtain default files in ~ldm/etc that won't be overridden.
This might be problematical for the GRIB tables. They would need to be versioned or part of the main LDM package.
