(by jon-skarpeteig) There's a number of products in that list which is not in nav already. It would be nice to have the mib list in nav, such that you don't have to manually fill out this information regarding what device it is.

(by mbrekkevold) I see. As of right now, the MIB is useless to NAV. It's needs to be parsed and reformatted to either SQL or a bulk import file for the SeddDB type page.

We do however have some ideas to utilize MIBs to automatically discover both the vendor and product of a new device if the type isn't registered in NAV's database. At the moment, we only create a new type attached to the 'unknown' vendor, which needs to be edited in SeedDB later to make sense.
