We would suggest the following sub types under BICYCLE for these H/H codes to refine bike spaces:

• BICYCLE_LOW
• BICYCLE_MIDDLE
• BICYCLE_HIGH

For places that are not further defined, we would probably continue to simply use BICYCLE. In relation to our fleet, these designations would be complete.

Reasoning why this distinction is important to us:

• We receive numerous customer reactions, especially from older customers (seniors) with heavy bikes, that they are not able to put the bikes in the high holders. Correspondingly better communication is often required (today you have to know which train has which brackets).

• In trains that have high racks (sometimes also medium ones), the same customers simply place their bikes next to them and thus sometimes block the passages. the space that would be intended for other user groups (strollers, luggage).

• We can only communicate line-specifically in a few cases what kind of bike hooks are on the train, because we often have two different types on the train, sometimes even in the car (just as the DB has two different hooks on the ICE4 in the same zone, medium/high ).

In general, we are convinced that the bike topic is here to stay and that the demand for self-loading bicycles will continue to increase.
