Display AVC/MVC as separate tracks #30

Open Archivist-zz opened 3 years ago

Archivist-zz commented 3 years ago

I'm seeing people post BDInfo from DVDFab versions, and for 3D Blu-rays, it shows 2 video "tracks" and will check bitrate for both of them separately - 1 for AVC, and 1 for MVC, left eye and right eye.

When I load 3D Blu-rays on version 0.7.5.8b, I only see one AVC track listed.

I'm hoping that this standalone BDInfo can implement this same functionality, as I am not interested in DVDFab product.

I don't know what is the issue for you but it displays correctly both tracks separately:

Hm, that's very strange, I don't know why it's not working for me then. My Blu-ray drive is on an old machine right now, so I am scanning disc backups made from the original discs. (Yes, I am using the original discs that I bought, not downloaded copies.) Both with the version you used in your example 0.7.5.6 and the version I originally mentioned 0.7.5.8b, it only shows AVC. I have tested many discs to ensure it wasn't a problem with just one disc. However, when I ran a trial of DVDFab, it has no problem and it shows both the AVC and the MVC, again I have tested with many discs, it comes up exactly the same as in your example.

Here's what it looks like for me using 0.7.5.6:

DISC INFO:

Well, that version does not matter for me because I forked this repo and I adjusted in .net core which includes also support for HDR10+

I will try that version you use.

Archivist-zz commented 3 years ago

Yes, I agree, I prefer the standalone official version or fork, I only tried the DVDFab version because I was confused why it apparently had this feature that the official version didn't. The only possibility I can think of is that it's not working for some reason because I am scanning a disc backup rather than scanning straight off the disc through the Blu-ray drive, this is due to only having a Blu-ray drive on my old computer with old Windows right now. But it is still curious because the DVDFab version has no issue with that, and you can see in my sample when I use the official version or fork that it definitely recognizes that it's a 3D Blu-ray. Well, thank you anyway for taking a look and for the replies.

Never compare commercial software with open source one. They won't be equally never !

UniqProject commented 3 years ago

@Archivist-zz Is this an ISO image or a folder that you are trying to scan? I have only seen this kind of problems when trying to scan a folder backup created by some tools (the first one coming to my mind is MakeMKV) because of the way how they handle the disc structure. To be honest, I do not see this being a problem, since scanning a disc or ISO image should give correct results, but if anyone is willing to change/fix the behaviour, feel free to fork/submit a patch - this is how open source works after all.

UniqProject commented 3 years ago

Since DVDFab is mentioned in the issue reports very often, I just want to put some things straight. This project is not affiliated/connected with DVDFab in any way. Just because the creators of DVDFab used the freely available original source code and kept the tool name for their own profit, does not mean the features they implement are also available in the standalone open source application, since no code changes have ever been submitted to the original project. Also, I am not the original developer who created this application, I just felt it needed an update after a very long time of inactivity.

Archivist-zz commented 3 years ago

Yes, I use folder backups from MakeMKV (from the original discs). And yeah, I realize this project is not affiliated/connected with DVDFab in any way (and I'm on the same page with you on them appropriating the tool). Anyway, if I can provide any further information should you wish to debug this issue further, please let me know. I'll be glad to switch away from DVDFab trial version back to standalone BDInfo if this functionality will work with MakeMKV backup folders in the future. Thank you for your time!
