Objective:

To develop a comprehensive plan for the safe and compliant relocation of the electrical panel box from its current indoor location to an accessible outdoor position, ensuring ease of access for maintenance and compliance with local electrical codes. Open ReadMe for visuals.

Steps:

  1. Site Assessment

    • Evaluate potential outdoor locations for the new electrical panel box installation.
    • Consider factors such as proximity to existing wiring, accessibility for maintenance, and protection from environmental elements (e.g., rain, snow, and direct sunlight).
  2. Compliance with Local Codes

    • Research local electrical codes and regulations regarding outdoor electrical installations.
    • Ensure the selected location meets all safety requirements, including minimum height above ground and distance from other structures.
  3. Design of Mounting Solution

    • Determine the appropriate mounting method for the electrical panel box (e.g., wall-mounted, pole-mounted).
    • Design a weatherproof enclosure or cover to protect the panel from the elements.
  4. Access Considerations

    • Plan for safe and convenient access to the electrical panel box for future maintenance and inspections.
    • Consider the installation of lighting near the panel for visibility during nighttime access.
  5. Wiring and Connections

    • Develop a plan for rerouting existing electrical wiring to the new panel location.
      • Circuit Slot Division Plan
        • Right Side of the Panel:
        • Upper Right: Circuits for the attic.
        • Lower Right: Circuits for the front of the house, including the front garden.
        • Left Side of the Panel:
        • Lower Left: Circuits for the back side of the house.
        • Upper Left: Circuits for the recharging area for the car and the yurt on the hill.
        • Include multiple circuits dedicated to servers for a lab setup.
        • Ensure that the Dryer circuit is completely separated and does not share with the deck lights or the electric socket below the TV in Apartment B's bedroom.
    • Create a visual representation of the circuit distribution plan for clarity.
    • Ensure that all connections comply with electrical codes and are secured to prevent accidental disconnection or damage.
  6. Permitting and Notifications

    • Check if any permits are required for the relocation of the electrical panel box.
    • Notify local utility companies or relevant authorities about the planned relocation to ensure compliance with their requirements.
  7. Timeline and Resource Allocation

    • Estimate the time required to complete the relocation and identify any resources needed (e.g., tools, materials, labor).
    • Create a timeline for the relocation process, including milestones for each step.
  8. Documentation

    • Prepare detailed documentation of the relocation plan, including diagrams of the new panel location and wiring layout.
    • Include a checklist of compliance requirements and safety measures to be followed during the relocation process.
