Developers can use GitHub for their private projects with up to three collaborators per repository for free. https://github.blog/2019-01-07-new-year-new-github/

Github provides free organization account with unlimited private repositories and unlimited users. Need to register non-profit: https://github.com/nonprofit

Different levels of visibility and functionality are available for organizations on GitHub depending on the type of account (usually paid or free versions). Our version is free. That is the reason why we couldn't publish our website until we made our repository public. (Other versions are allowed to publish the website from private repos).

Since the code that we're writing will have a private key for the Tableau maps, we have to use private repo.

I'm currently contacting the Github support team to change our organization's free account to a nonprofit account. If it works out, we'll have more functionality available and we'll be able to publish our website from the public repo.

But recall that we want to keep the repo private and not to publish the website until we receive the green light from the WCL team.

Waiting for permission from MLOV. Support responded:

Our nonprofit program offers a free Team Plan (unlimited users and unlimited private repositories) to official nonprofit organizations and charities. We just need a little more information from you to get you set up.

You can read more about non-profits on GitHub, including what kinds of information we need, here:

We provided the client with proper documentation so they can create a free account if needed.
