"By oneself" is an idiom meaning 'unaccompanied' or 'unassisted'. (Cf. SNACS treatment)
p. 28 says:
"He did it [all_E [by_R himself_C]_C]_D" (it's a D since the expression basically means that he did it alone)
Because the "all" is not necessary for the idiomatic meaning I'm not sure it makes sense to have a nested unit for just "by himself"—why not "[all_D by_R himself_C]_D" or "[all_E by_R himself_C]_D"? (I don't know whether D or E is appropriate for adverb modifiers of PPs; see also #9.)
