Seems to be inherited from splitting NCI multiword units that had one POS tag: ADV
However, while in favour of taobh being tagged NOUN, I also think amuigh (and istigh) could be tagged as ADJ in these cases. (lit. side out) Which apparently is plausible according to https://www.teanglann.ie/ga/fgb/amuigh
Otherwise, the fixed label should be used to connect the two, because adverbs don't modify nouns.....
I suggest the NP can be considered an obl attachment to the verb instead of advmod. obl(bhí, taobh)
This would also make sense with additional PP attachments: taobh amuigh den teach (outside the house) NOUN ADJ ADP NOUN

Have updated POS tags to NOUN + ADJ NP attached as obl PP attached to that as nmod (den teach)

All other occurrences of "taobh" are tagged with NOUN including "taobh istigh" which is tagged as NOUN ADV
