attachment to an ADJ seems strange .. unless (controversial!) it's treated as a fixed expression. In many ways it is, if the multiword represents an intensifier and not a NP per se.
Could bhfad
also be considered a cranberry word in that it only appears in that form in that context?
Currently "i bhfad" is usually annotated as an nmod of the preceding noun, with the comparative adjective X as an independent amod of the same noun. This phrase should be a constituent though, with "i bhfad" as a kind of adverbial modifier (like English "much more X") Since it's a nominal, making "i bhfad" an obl of the adjective is probably the right thing, but I'm open to other suggestions.
