Point 2: We need to have some kind of activity monthly for members putting in effort to plan etc.
Article II – Membership Section 1: Eligibility The IEEE student branch at The University of Utah is open to all students with an interest in electronics who meet the following requirements. Have no violations indicated on his or her University record. Complete and abide by all requirements that may be imposed on Branch Members by the University. Be classed as an undergraduate or graduate student at the University. Section 2: Non-Discrimination The IEEE student branch at The University of Utah will not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, protected disability, veteran status, height, weight, or marital status. In fact, openness to all and diversity of the organization is one of the highest goals of the group and the individuals who compose the group. Section 3: Active Membership Active members will have priority over non-active members in events that have limited seating (i.e. soldering workshops, Matlab tutorials, and other events with limited space). Active members are members that fulfill the following requirements: Attend general member meetings (attending via discord or any other organization communication system will count). When a general member attends a general member meeting he/she will be considered an active member as long as all other requirements are met (there is no limit to how many times a member can be removed and added to the active member's list due to this rule). If a general member is missed more than twice without informing a member of the executive board the student will be removed from the active member list. Keep in communication with our President. Volunteer to help set up one IEEE event or help with an IEEE community outreach event. Section 4: Loss of Membership/Active-membership Anyone who does not meet the requirements of Article II Section 3 will lose active membership and will become an inactive member. Anyone who does not meet the requirements of Article II Section 3 will be given one month to correct any discrepancies before being expelled from the group.
I copied a lot of this from another IEEE branch, I'm assuming that's not against any rules? I didn't put in anything about monthly activities (I missed your comment) but it does specify there that active members will have priority for events that have limited seating - do you think that's enough? Also, the constitution I pulled this from had an active membership on a week-by-week basis, but I thought that was a little harsh so I changed it to 2, we could change it back if you'd like. :)
