Error Transcoding from ALAC to MP3 #746

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Have iTunes M4A unprotected ALAC encoding tracks.
2. Place in Music Folder
3. Attempt to play track from DLNA television, PS3, or XBox 360

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

- Expect for the ALAC file to be transcoded to MP3 or something else since
ALAC is proprietary and cannot be utilized by the either Media extender.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

- 1.20.409-BETA - (On Windows)

If you are transcoding a media file, which engine are you using (mencoder,
avisynth/mencoder, tsmuxer?)

- The only DirectShow ALAC / MP3 filter that I know of: http://www.dsp-
worx.de/ January 8 2007 entry.

If the media file is in error (or does not play flawlessly), what are the
codec informations of this file (you can use following program:
mediainfo.sourceforge.net) ?

The media file is fine, and works on several devices and itunes.

Please provide any additional information below and PLEASE JOIN debug.log
file !!

I noticed that in the forums it was suggested that aac,m4a be placed in
the area to skip transcoding. I am not sure why this would solve the
problem, but I tried anyway and it didn't work.

Thanks!

I suspect this should have been filed as an enhancement, but I missed that
button
somehow. :( Also, I am not really sure how to select which installed filter
to use
for particular transcoding scenarios. It would be cool to have a matrix:

Something maybe like this in a UI Grid:

Source:
Source Container:MP4 Source Encoding: iTunes ALAC

Target:
Destination Device Type: PS3, XBox 360, DLNA Device
Destination Device Encoding: MP3

Default Transcoding Filter: DC Bass ALAC MP3
